See how roof area changes an asphalt replacement budget. Use a published regional range for an early planning example, then start with a free inspection of your home.
Before you choose a new roof, it helps to understand the scale of the cost. Start with the 2,000-square-foot example below or an area you already know. The calculator applies a published Dallas-Fort Worth asphalt replacement range and shows how the total changes with roof area.
That gives you a starting budget to discuss, not a price for your house. The roof's condition, access and installation details still need a closer look. A free inspection connects the broad range with the work your home actually needs.

Change the example using information you already have. Roof surface is the sloped area covered by roofing; roof footprint is the area the roof covers when viewed from above. Neither is automatically the same as the living area of a two-story house.
Keep the 2,000 sq. ft. example, or enter an area you already know. Roof footprint means the area covered, not total living space.
Keep the 6:12 example unless you already know the pitch. Pitch helps check material suitability.
Planning budget example
Planning example for 2,000 sq. ft. of actual roof surface, using asphalt shingles. Ordinary tear-off is included.
The published range includes asphalt installation, ordinary tear-off and disposal. The selected system, damaged decking, roof details and access can move the actual price outside this example.

The published 2026 Dallas-Fort Worth asphalt replacement range is $4.50 to $7.50 per square foot of roof surface, including tear-off and disposal. It is one contractor’s broad regional range, not a product-specific rate.
Known roof surface is multiplied directly by the range. For a footprint, the tool uses footprint × √(1 + (pitch ÷ 12)²). It approximates a simple roof and does not measure mixed pitches or added roof sections.
The 2,000-square-foot starting area and 6:12 pitch are examples. Use values you already know or leave the examples in place; measurements are not required to request help. The calculator does not include insurance payments.
The published range includes installing asphalt shingles and removing and disposing of the old covering. It is one regional contractor’s broad planning range, not a survey of Rockwall projects or an offer from this website.
The source groups asphalt shingle replacement together. It does not establish a separate rate here for architectural, impact-rated or designer products. The covering and installation system chosen for your roof still affect the proposal.
For known roof surface, the tool multiplies that area by the published per-square-foot range. For a known footprint, it applies the selected pitch to approximate a simple roof surface. It does not measure dormers, attached roof sections or mixed pitches.
Damaged decking, steep or difficult access, flashing changes and the selected roof system can move a price outside the example. Gutters and other separate work need their own scope. The inspection and proposal establish those details.
A useful proposal should explain the work behind the total. These pages show what to compare before you decide.
